What every Viking Antarctica fare includes

Viking call it “Viking Inclusive Value”, and on an Antarctic voyage it covers almost everything from the moment you leave the UK. Here is the full list.

Flights and transfers

• Return economy flights from London, with up to ten regional UK airports available
• The charter flight between Buenos Aires and Ushuaia
• All overseas transfers between airports, hotel and ship

Excursions and expedition activities

• Guided tours in Buenos Aires and in Tierra del Fuego National Park
• Every Zodiac landing and Zodiac cruise in Antarctica, the Falklands and South Georgia
• Kayaking, and rides in the Special Operations Boats, with all the gear you need
• A Viking expedition jacket to keep
• Meopta MeoPro 8x42 binoculars in your stateroom
• Lectures by the Expedition Team in The Aula, and the chance to join the scientists in The Science Lab

On board

• All meals in every restaurant, with no extra charge for the speciality restaurants, and 24 hour room service
• Beer, wine and soft drinks with lunch and dinner
• Speciality coffees, teas and bottled water around the clock
• Wi-Fi, though speeds in Antarctica can be slow
• The Nordic Spa, The Pools and the fitness centre
• Self service launderettes
• Port taxes and fees, and onboard gratuities

What is not included

• Travel insurance, which must include at least £250,000 of emergency medical, evacuation and repatriation cover
• Submarine dives, which are optional and booked on board
• Drinks outside lunch and dinner, unless you add the Silver Spirits beverage package
• Spa treatments and pre or post cruise extensions

Comparing Prices

Why Viking fares look higher, and often are not

At first glance Viking’s Antarctic fares can look higher than some other cruise lines. The difference is that flights are already in the price. For most Antarctic voyages you need to add a return flight to Buenos Aires, often more than £1,000 per person in peak season, plus hotels and transfers. Once you add drinks with meals, Wi-Fi and gratuities on top, the gap often closes or disappears entirely.

Eating and Drinking

Dining and drinks on board

There are no set dining times or dress codes, and no supplements in any restaurant. The Restaurant serves regional dishes and Scandinavian classics alongside an always available menu, Manfredi’s is the Italian, the World Café has a buffet, sushi and a grill, and Mamsen’s, named after Torstein Hagen’s mother, serves Norwegian waffles and light bites. When the weather is kind, the Aquavit Terrace is the place for lunch with a view.

Wine, beer and soft drinks are poured free with lunch and dinner. If you would like cocktails, spirits and premium wines through the day, the Silver Spirits beverage package can be added for the whole voyage. Viking sometimes include it free as a special offer, so ask us what is on offer when you book.

Paying for Your Voyage

Deposit and balance

A deposit of £500 per person secures your booking, and the balance is due to us 150 days before departure. If you book within 150 days of departure, the full price is payable at the time of booking. The full terms are on our Viking booking conditions page.
