The Key Points

Booking a Viking voyage through Coastal Cruises

Coastal Cruises (Westgate Travel) acts as a booking agent for Viking River Cruises UK Limited, which trades as Viking and Viking Expeditions. When you book a Viking voyage through us, your contract is with Viking under Viking’s own UK booking conditions. The main points are summarised below. Viking’s full and current booking conditions always take precedence, and we will send you a copy before you book.

Paying for Your Voyage

Deposit and balance

PaymentWhen
Deposit£500 per person, when you book
BalanceDue to us 150 days before departure
Bookings within 150 days of departureThe full price is payable when you book

If the balance is not received by the due date, the booking may be cancelled and cancellation charges will apply.

If You Need to Cancel

Cancellation charges

Cancellations must be made in writing. Viking’s maximum cancellation charges, as a percentage of the total price excluding insurance premiums, are:

Notice before departureCharge
120 days or moreLoss of deposit
119 to 30 days50% of the total price
Less than 30 days100% of the total price

This is why we recommend taking out travel insurance as soon as you pay your deposit.

Changing Your Booking

Amendments and name changes

Viking charge an administration fee of £100 per person for changes requested more than 30 days before departure, and £200 per person after that, plus any extra costs from airlines or other suppliers. Name changes are possible in some circumstances, but airline rules may restrict them and they are generally not possible within seven days of departure.

Travel Insurance

Insurance is a condition of booking

Every guest must have travel insurance. For expedition voyages, the policy must include emergency medical treatment, evacuation and repatriation cover of at least £250,000 per person, and Viking normally ask for proof of cover well before departure. Make sure your policy covers Antarctica and any activities you plan to do, such as kayaking. UK residents can get a quote from our partner Allianz Assistance.

Your Money Is Safe

Financial protection

Viking’s flight inclusive holidays are protected under the ATOL scheme, ATOL number 3124, and you will receive an ATOL Certificate when you book. Viking are also members of ABTA, number V924X. Coastal Cruises is a member of the Travel Trust Association.
